Cody Rhodes battles Carmelo Hayes

Primed to battle Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will prepare by taking on Carmelo Hayes. Hayes confronted The American Nightmare last week, rubbing salt in the wounds by siding with Owens. Rhodes and Hayes had a memorable clash in April on SmackDown, which saw the Undisputed WWE Champion prevail. Who will win this contest?

Your announcers are Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

We begin with a look back at the end of Smackdown when we found out the fifth member of Bloodline Classic for War Games.

Bianca Belair makes her way to the stage and she is joined by Naomi, Iyo Sky, Bayley, and Rhea Ripley.

They make their way to the ring while we see how Jade was ‘removed’ from the War Games match and how Bayley helped Bianca Belair beat Nia Jax to get the advantage at War Games.

Rhea says she knows it is obvious that not everyone on this team is the best of friends. She says none of that matters. Tomorrow night, we all step into one of the most dangerous matches in WWE, War Games. They all have someone they want to get their hands on. Tomorrow night, this all ends when they step into that steel cage. No one will be able to stop them from brutalizing those women.

Think about everything they have done to them.

Naomi says Nia and her little lap dogs are going to get what they deserve and then some. They have been nothing but a pain in hers and Bayley’s side. She promises the glow is going to be felt.

Bianca says they know that one of them took out Jade last week and they are all going to get it tomorrow.

Rhea tells Liv she is going to wish she never met her.

Iyo says they will destroy you.

Liv Morgan’s music interrupts and she makes her way to the stage behind Raquel Rodriguez. They are joined by Tiffany Stratton, Candice LeRae, and Nia Jax.

Liv says it is funny to see how confident they are thinking they are going to win. Liv cackles.

Nia asks Bianca if she had a brain fart and forgot that Bayley and Iyo torched her for years. Or does Bayley remember Iyo stabbing her in the back. What they have done is nothing compared to what they have done to each other. You will implode before the match.

Naomi tells them to shut up.

Bayley says that Tiffany doesn’t realize that Nia is manipulating her and that Candice knows her way about the ring and she can manipulate things. You might not have friends after War Games.

Nia says Bayley knows about having no friends and she calls Bayley a big idiot. Liv cackles in approval.

Liv says they are a united front. Liv says she thinks it is real interesting that Jade is attacked and you are on the War Games team.

Rhea tells Liv to shut up and stop wasting everybody’s time. Soon, you are not going to be able to hide behind anyone. When you step into the cages, there will be nowhere to run and you will have to face her.

Liv says Rhea is right and that is why she is going to put her money where her mouth is and she will finish off Rhea.

Rhea calls Liv sweet and naive and that she will cave in Liv’s face so bad that Dom won’t want to look at you.

Liv tells Rhea nice try and they will see them tomorrow.

They walk up the aisle, but Rhea says she hates waiting so they chase Liv and her partners up the aisle and we have a brawl as everyone pairs off.

Officials and referees make their way to ringside to try to separate everyone.

Andrade vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura with a knee and elbow to Andrade. They lock up and Nakamura with a punch and forearm on the break. Nakamura with an Irish whip and Andrade does the Flair fliip and he punches Nakamrua from the apron and hits a cross body for a near fall. Nakamura runs Andrade into the turnbuckles and connects with shoulders. Nakamura chokes Andrade in the corner and he charges into the corner but Andrade with a rollup for a near fall.

Andrade with a head scissors that sends Nakamura to the floor. Nakamura with a kick when Andrade goes for a suicide dive. Nakamura with a kick and he goes to the turnbuckles but Andrade with a springboard drop kick to send Nakamura to the floor. Andrade goes up top and hits a moonsault onto Nakamura on the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Nakamura with a side head lock and Andrade with elbows. Nakamura with a knee to the midsection and he goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Andrade lands on his feet and he connects with a forearm and a dragon screw. Andrade with a flying forearm and both men are down. Andrade sets for the running double knee strike but Nakamura sends Andrade to the apron. Andrade goes up top but Nakamura with forearms to the back.

Nakamura sets for a Regal superplex but Andrade blocks it and he sends Nakamura to the mat with an elbow. Andrade sets for the moonsault and then Nakamura moves and Andrade hits the Andradesault for a near fall. Andrade sets for the Message but Nakamura misses a series of kicks. Nakamura with an elbow but he misses a running knee. Andrade with a back elbow for a near fall.

Andrade with a suplex and he holds on to roll through for a second one. Andrade rolls through and tries for a third one but Nakamura blocks it for a moment and he tries to back Andrade into the corner. Andrade stops him and he suplexes Nakamura into the turnbuckles. Andrade sets for the running double knees and he misses it and Nakamura pulls off the top turnbuckle pad and Andrade hits it. Nakamura with Kinshasa for the three count.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

After the match:
LA Knight comes to the ring and he tries to punch Nakamura but Nakamura spits mist into Knight’s face. Nakamura leaves while Knight rolls around on the mat in pain over the mist.


Backstage:
House of Bloodline is in the back and Solo tells Jacob that he has this. He tells Jacob not to worry about that stupid dance he does. Nick Aldis shows up and he says that the match tonight is important to determine who gets the advantage. He says everyone is banned from ringside. Nick says he means everybody. Solo tells Nick he’s got it and Nick asks if they understand each other.

We go to commercial.

Backstage:
We are back and Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano are in the back. Ciampa is reminding Gargano that he said whatever it takes and that Gargano says they were screwed out of the titles. Ciampa tells Johnny they were screwed in Johnny’s home town in front of Johnny’s family. He doesn’t want their children to call them losers. Ciampa says he does not care if Alex Shelley was his mentor. Is his friendship with Alex greater than getting the titles back? Johnny says he wants to talk to Alex again. Ciampa says he is sick of talking and he reminds Johnny of what he has been doing. He tells Johnny he has one more week to figure this out or they do it his way.

January 28, 2023 at the Royal Rumble. Roman Reigns orders for Kevin to be super kicked over and over again. Cody Rhodes was in the building but he was nowhere to be found.

Kevin says that is three of over a dozen examples he could use to show that Cody Rhodes deserves everything coming to him at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he turns the American Nightmare into the Canadian Dream.

Cody Rhodes vs Carmelo Hayes

Cody goes for the leg but Hayes avoids it. They lock up and Cody backs Hayes into the ropes and Hayes pushes Cody. They lock up and Hayes with a side head lock. Hayes counters a hip toss with a rollup for a near fall. Cody drops down but Hayes avoids the uppercut. Cody with a rollup and a punch. Hayes slaps Cody and then Hayes backs up when Cody goes after him. Hayes with a side head lock.

Cody clotheslines Hayes over the top rope to the floor. Cody with a suicide dive and he sends Hayes into the announce table. Hayes drop kicks Cody in the knee when he tries to get back into the ring. Hayes misses a springboard move but Cody does not miss Beautiful Disaster.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Cody stops Hayes on the turnbuckles. Cody sets for a superplex and he turns it into a delayed superplex. We see footage of Hayes hot shotting Cody and following with a springboard clothesline during the break. Back to live action, Cody with punches. Hayes with a kick and Cody with a running forearm and he floats over and goes for the power slam but Hayes knows it is coming.

Hayes with La Mistica for a near fall. Hayes with a front face lock and a forearm to the back. Cody escapes a suplex attempt and Cody with a running power slam and he locks in a figure four leg lock.

Hayes gets to the ropes to force a break. Hayes kicks Cody away and he follows with a forearm. Cody fires back and then they continue the exchange. Hayes with a thrust kick and Cody goes for a Cody Cutter but Hayes kicks the ropes and Cody falls into the ropes. Hayes with a springboard leg drop followed by a twisting suplex into a cutter for a near fall. Hayes goes to the apron and Cody stops him with punches. Hayes goes up top and sets for Nothin but Net and Cody moves. Cody sets for CrossRhodes but Hayes escapes. Cody blocks a kick and he goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Hayes lands on his feet. Cody blocks an O’Connor Roll and he hits a Cody Cutter. Cody with CrossRhodes for the three count.

Winner: Cody Rhodes


We take a look at a special meeting hosted by Paul Heyman with Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

We go to ROOM and Paul and Roman sit at a table.

Roman looks at his watch and he asks Paul where is Punk.

Paul says he doesn’t know.

Roman wants to know why Punk is making him wait. He says it doesn’t work for him. Roman stands up like he is going to leave, but Punk shows up and sits down at the table.

Punk says he doesn’t have a lot of time for this.

Roman says it is a good thing he showed up late.

Punk says he didn’t show up for Roman, he showed up for Paul.

Roman says that is good but he tells Punk he doesn’t need his help.

Punk says he figured Roman would think that way. He does not want to help Roman. He is here for Paul.

Roman says he is happy for them. He says he doesn’t like Punk’s tone or attitude. He says he doesn’t like Punk. He doesn’t want to team with Punk at War Games.

Paul tells Roman that Solo has had them in checkmate since the Friday after Wrestlemania. If they don’t accept Punk’s help, it is over.

Paul tells Punk if he doesn’t help tomorrow and Solo turns back Roman and puts an end to the Bloodline, you’re next. Solo is going to come after you. All five of them will come after you because Solo knows you are the next threat.

Divided they all fall to Solo. United, at best, they survive.

Punk tells Roman he doesn’t care if Roman doesn’t like his attitude. He doesn’t like Roman. He is here for Paul. You want your Ula Fala back? Punk says he wants scalps for what they did to his friend. If they survive War Games and you want to relive this, Punk says he is all ears.

Roman says one time and Punk says one time.

Punk says one favor.

Roman asks Punk if he owes him a favor. Punk says Roman owes him nothing. Their wise man will owe him a favor.

Punk gets up and leaves.

Roman asks Paul what is the favor.

Paul tells Roman to get through War Games and then they will have all the time in the world to talk about it.

Women’s United States Title Tournament First Round Match
Michin vs Piper Niven (w/ Chelsea Green) vs Lash Legend

Michin kicks Piper and Lash goes for a forearm on Michin but she hits Piper instead. Piper with a waist lock take down to Michin followed by a splash for a near fall. Piper with a head butt to Lash . Lash catches Piper on a cross body but Michin drop kicks Piper onto Lash. Michin with a sleeper and Lash backs Michin into the turnbuckles. Michin with a kick and she goes up top for a head scissors on Lash. Michin with a kick to Piper. Michin with an Asai Moonsault onto Piper and Lash.

Michin sends Piper back into the ring and Green pulls Michin off the apron and she kicks Michin.

B Fab comes to the ring and she runs Green into the apron and then they exchange forearms to the back.

Piper yells for Chelsea. Lash with a bicycle kick

We go to commercial.

We are back and Piper with a cannonball to Michin followed by a Piper Driver for a near fall. Lash gets Piper on her shoulders but Piper gets to her feet and she hits a body block on Lash. Piper stomps on the midsection and she goes to the turnbuckles for a Vader Bomb and hits it for a near fall. Michin with forearms to Lash. Lash catches Michin on a cross body attempt and Lash with a uranage back breaker. Piper with an Irish whip but Piper misses a splash on Lash. Lash with a choke slam.

Lash gets a near fall. Lash gets another near fall on Piper. Lash has some words for the referee. Michin with a running thrust kick and she goes for a head scissors but Lash blocks it and she hits a power bomb for a near fall. Piper with a back senton onto Lash and Michin. She gets a near fall on Lash. Piper with an Irish whip to Michin and Piper runs into a boot. Piper slaps Michin and Piper goes to the turnbuckles but Lash stops Piper. Lash goes to the turnbuckles but Piper with a head butt. Piper misses a back senton off the turnbuckles when Lash moves.

Lash with the Lash Extension on Piper but Michin breaks up the cover and Michin gets the three count.

Winner: Michin

Backstage:
We are back and the medical staff is still treating LA Knight after what Shinsuke Nakamura did to him. Byron Saxton asks Knight about his status for tomorrow. Knight says he can barely see but let’s talk about Nakamura. He has been gone and he shows back up and has problems with him. Knight says he has been in survival mode. Knight says he will thrive and he will continue to be the US Champ. Will he not go to Survivor Series? Na na. He will be at Survivor Series. He will drop Nakamura on his head to get the three count.

Backstage:
Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso are in Gorilla with Jey Uso before his match against Jacob Fatu. Sami says they will have his back. Nick Aldis shows up and he wants to make sure it is crystal clear. He told Solo already and he is telling them that everyone is banned from ringside. Sami tells Jey he has this.


War Games Match Advantage Match
Jacob Fatu vs Jey Uso

They lock up and they go around the ring. Fatu pushes Jey on the break. Jey with punches and a side head lock. Fatu with a shoulder tackle. Fatu with forearms to the back and he chokes Jey in the ropes. Fatu sends Jey into the turnbuckles and he follows with an uppercut. Fatu kicks Jey many times. Fatu with a head butt. Fatu with an Irish whip and Jey floats over and connects with an elbow and an enzuigiri. Jey clotheslines Fatu over the top rope to the floor. Jey with a suicide dive but Fatu catches Jey and sends him into the ring post and over the announce table.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Fatu with a nerve hold on Jey. Jey with punches and Fatu with a flying back elbow. Fatu kicks Jey in the head. Fatu returns to the nerve hold. Fatu with a head butt and he gets Fatu on his shoulders. Jey gets to his feet and he sends Fatu shoulder first into the ring post. Fatu charges at Jey again and Jey backs up and leaps out of the way as Fatu goes into the ring post a second time.

Jey with punches including the spit punch. Fatu blocks a kick but Jey hits an enzuigiri. Jey sets for a running hip into the corner and hits it.

Jey gets a near fall. Fatu runs into boots from Jey and Hey comes off the turnbuckles but Fatu catches him and hits a urnaage. Fatu with a handspring moonsault for a near fall. Fatu with a running hip into the corner. Jey with a super kick and Fatu with a pop up Samoan drop for a near fall. Fatu goes to the turnbuckles and lands on Jey’s knees on a swanton. Jey with a spear to Fatu and then he goes up top for a frog splash and he hits it for a near fall.

Fatu rolls to the floor and Jey sets for a suicide dive and he this it and Fatu goes into the announce table and over it. Jey removes the hood of the announce table and moves the contents off the table. Jey breaks the count and then he goes back to the floor and he runs into a super kick from Fatu. Fatu goes into the announce table with Jey and he hits a Samoan drop onto the table. Fatu sends Jey back into the ring and he hits an implant DDT. Fatu with the double jump moonsault for the three count.

Winner: Jacob Fatu

After the match:
Fatu goes to be hugged by Solo on the stage after his victory.
