Default WWE PPV Sets Record, MVP's Title Reign, RAW, More

    Source - Wrestling Observer Newsletter

    - The gate for this year's Royal Rumble was around $1.3 million, which is among the largest non-WrestleMania gates that WWE has done in North America.

    - The WWE RAW Theme song CD has almost sold 95,000 units, not including Wal-Mart.

    - MVP has passed the 260 day mark as U.S. champion which is the longest reigning U.S. champion since Rick Rude in WCW and the fifth longest in history. If he keeps the belt through the rest of this month he will top Barry Windham for the fourth spot.

The impression I get from your post is that you think it's unfair that people like the idea of MVP having a long title run more than they did Cena having a long run. Since when is it wrong for people to have opinions? In reality, the conclusion that this leads us to is that MVP may have more potential than Cena if people are responding better to MVP than they did to Cena at this point in his career.

A couple of other things that you didn't consider is that Cena held the title for MUCH longer than 260 days (even though they weren't all consecutive). It's also easier for a heel to have a long title reign and still get reactions than it is for a babyface to have a long title reign and still get reactions. The most important thing you are forgetting is that throughout Cena's title reign, he held the WWE title. He was the top guy on RAW for seemingly an eternity, and WWE pushed him in our face every chance they got. MVP, on the other hand, is just the U.S. champion, comfortably sitting in Smackdown's midcard. He comes out, has a match or VIP Lounge promo, and that's all we see of him until the next week. He's not being overexposed as Cena was. All those reasons contribute as to why MVP still has so much support after his long title reign, and why Cena had so much hate after his much longer title reign.

What is Greatness? How do you define it?
