Boy, 10, crashes car, explains he is actually a dwarf who forgot his license

February 12, 2014 2:50 PM By Cora Van Olson

An ambitious young Norwegian boy, 10, decided early Wednesday morning that he and his 18-month-old sister were going to ditch their sleeping parents, take the car and drive to grandma’s house. Never mind that the roads were snowy and grandma lived nearly 40 miles away. So at about 6 a.m., he loaded his sister into the car and began the drive from Dokka to Valdres. He didn’t get very far.

Amazingly, he did get manage to get about seven miles before accidentally crashing the car into a ditch. A man driving a snowplow found the children and asked the boy what had happened. According to Baard Christiansen, a spokesman for the Vest Oppland police district, “The boy told the snowplow driver that he was a dwarf and that he had forgotten his driver’s license at home.”

    The plow man called police.

By that time the children’s parents had also called police, ”The parents woke up and discovered that the children were missing and that someone had taken off with their car. They were pretty upset, as you can imagine,” continued Christiansen.

No one was injured, there was no damage to the car, no charges will be filed, and according to Christiansen, “We have talked to them [the parents], and I’m pretty sure they’re going to pay very close attention both to their children and to their car keys in the future.”

You have to give the boy credit for thinking on his feet. But I'd still ground the wee fucker for a few years.
