Unhappy Lucha Libre Legend Ciclon Ramirez Passes Away at 64

The wrestling world has lost a true icon of the ring as Ciclon Ramirez, a staple of lucha libre wrestling, has died at the age of 64. The news was shared on Facebook on March 4, before Record reported that he had suffered a heart attack before passing.

Ramirez’s career spanned nearly four decades, beginning with his debut in 1985. Best known for his time in CMLL, he also competed in AAA, IWRG, and Promo Azteca, leaving a lasting legacy in each promotion. A former CMLL World Welterweight Champion, he was widely respected for his high-flying style and technical prowess.

His final match took place on August 30, 2024, when he teamed with El Hijo del Fishman and Mascara Sagrada NG against Hijo del Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, and Emperador Azteca. Even in his final bouts, Ramirez continued to showcase the passion and talent that made him a staple of lucha libre.

Ramirez’s passing is sad, but his influence in the world of professional wrestling will conintue to live on. His son, Ciclon Ramirez Jr., is making a name for himself on Mexico’s independent scene, while his nephew, Xelhua, is rising through the ranks of CMLL.

    BOW DOWN TO THE KING

    ***GAME OVER!***
