AEW Dynamite
This week, after an unforgettable night from Sunday’s AEW REVOLUTION, witness all of the fallout! After defeating Konosuke Takeshita, we hear from New AEW International Champion Kenny Omega! Plus, we will hear from MJF, and much more!
-- Commentators are Taz, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone.
-- Kenny Omega open the show with a huge pyro entrance as the crowd cheers. Omega signs autographs, high fives and even received flowers before he heads into he ring.
Taz mentions that Omega is now the Grand Slam Champion in AEW with him winning the AEW World Trios Championship, AEW World Tag Team Championship, AEW World Championship and now the AEW International Championship.
Omega says this is so wild to him because before 2025 he was more than happy just to stand in the ring and say he was cleared to wrestle. What makes it feel like a dream is that we’re barely into the year, but thanks to the fans, doctors, someone he never thought he’d call a friend, Will Ospreay. he says not only is he back, but he’s back with a singles championship. One final person he needs to thank, controversial as it may be, Konosuke Takeshita, who pushed him harder than he ever imagined. If it wasn’t for Takeshita dragging him to the place he needed to be, he wouldn’t be here now in front of these people. Omega says the International Title Eliminator Tournament by Tony Khan is a great idea, as it will determine who is the best on the planet. Omega says he will be watching, as he wants to see who will look to being the best.
Omega hits the Goodbye & Goodnight line as he leaves the ring and signs some more autographs and high fives fans before The Opps (Samoa Joe, HOOK & Katsuyori Shibata) make their entrance and have a little face off with Omega before heading to the ring for their match.
-- MATCH: The Opps (Samoa Joe, HOOK & Katsuyori Shibata) defeated Eli Theseus, Vinny Pacifico & Gabriel Aeros.
-- Backstage: Ricochet says despite being screwed at Revolution, it doesn’t mean his quest for gold is over. He didn’t want the ugly ass Embassy robe anyways but that gold Kenny Omega is holding looks good. he says he knows what Shibata is capable of, so he’s giving him an option to quit before their match on Saturday at Collision, otherwise he won’t be responsible for what happens to him.
-- Video Package: We take a look back at AEW Revolution last Saturday night.
-- Announcement: Next week on Dynamite in Omaha, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will defend his championship against Cope in a Street Fight. The winner will face Swerve Strickland at Dynasty ppv, Apr 6.
Cameras caught up to Strickland backstage last Sunday at AEW Revolution PPV, he says, one year ago he made history by becoming the first black AEW World Champion last year at Dynasty PPV. At Dynasty on Apr 6 he will do it again for the second time
Cope turns up holding his neck, saying it hurts. Cope says not sure if you noticed but I didn't lose tonight, so by the time Dynasty rolls around Cope could be champion and Strickland would be facing him. He says, if it doesn't happen before then and Strickland does become the champion, chances are Stickland will definitely be looking at him. Strickland agrees and they fist bump. Cope says good luck and walks off.
-- Backstage: Jon Moxley says The Rated R Superstar thinks Moxley should feel lucky, like he was given some kind of gift at AEW Revolution. He says what did they use to call you, the world's greatest opportunist? You got to appreciate the irony. Mocley says he should have got Christain out of there sooner but he underestimated Adam Copeland. Glassy eyes etc .. I hurt him, i know I hurt him, he was hurt and he didn't even care. He just kept coming forward and coming forward. Whatever Adam Copeland is made of is rare.He can admire that but if Cope wants to compalin about the rules, you take the rules .. the countouts, the DQs .. you take the rules, I'll take your excuses. My dad always told me measure twice, cut once .. I underestimated the depth of Adam Copelandd's resolve, his tougnness, his grit, his will to climb step by step to the top of the mountain no maytter what avalanche befall him. There's a reason I'm the world champion, there's a difference between amateurs and professionals .. one of which, I never make the same mistake twice. Moxley walks away.
-- MATCH: Powerhouse Hobbs & Hologram (w/ Harleygram) defeated Brian Cage & Dralistico (w/ The Beast Mortos)
- After the match: Lance Archer & Mark Davis came out to help Cage as they all had a stare down with Hobbs, who stood his ground.
-- After AEW Revolution PPV last Sunday: Alicia Atout interviews The Hurt Syndicate. MVP asks whose asses they need to beat next? MVP said that’s what he loves about Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley, no one works harder than The Hurt Syndicate, which means no one should play harder than they do. Lashley wants to go to the Gold's gym but MVP wants them to take a week off and be in the sun and relax. Benjamin says that's all good and fine but the gym is still in the picture. MVP says they want to fight more and do what they do better than anyone else, they want to hurt people.
-- Video Package: video package on the epic Hollywood Ending is shown, as the entire history of Timeless Toni Storm vs. Mariah May was showcased.
-- On Stage: AEW WOmen's World Champion Timeless Toni Storm stands before you to say this tramp is still the champ. Revolution was her Hollywood Ending, as a chunk of her heart is gone forever, but looking at the AEW Women’s Championship, it was well worth it. It’s time for a new beginning; it’s her honor to be the AEW Women’s World champion because this is the most talented locker room in all of professional wrestling. There are so many champions but when you fight with Storm, it’s like visiting the zoo. She bleeds like a pig, licks like a giraffe and she will eat you like a lion. It will be messy, sweaty and it will always be Timeless. As Storm posed, she was Attacked from behind by the undefeated Megan Bayne, who posed over the fallen Storm.
-- MATCH: International Title Eliminator Tournament First Round: “Speedball” Mike Bailey defeated The Beast Mortos.
- NOTE: Bailey bowed in respect before the meatch because of his Taekwondo background and Beast Mortos bent his head to the side as if confused. Quite funny with the head gear on.
-- Backstage: Renee Paquette is with The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, Kip Sabian, Nick Wayne and Mother Wayne) and asks about Christian Cage’s failed cash in at Revolution. Cage refuses to speak to anyone related to Jon Moxley and says Paquette should take a hint, as she’s blonde and not smart, he does not want her there and he tells her to get out of his sight. Paquette leaves.
Cage says he’s still the reigning, defending, undisputed AEW World Champion. He says when he handed that contract to the referee, he told him that he was to face Cope alone. Cage says the referee turned it into a three way match without him knowing, so he was not expecting Moxley to grab him in a illegal choke hold. He says he did not tap out or pass out but he was relegating his breathing to turn the hold around.
Patriarch member Nick Wayne cut Cage off and said Cage is just making excuses. Wayne says he is lying to himself, the people and he lied to the rest of the Patriarch. He says maybe if you had stuck with the plan you would be AEW World Champion right now, so not only do you owe all of the Patriarch an explanation but also a apology.
Cage says he is sorry it's come to this and pushes Wayne. Mother Wayne intervenes, but Cage said if she does something, she’ll be back to working the midnight shift at Waffle House. Mother Wayne steps aside.
Cage now goes back to Nick Wayne. Cage asks who Wayne is to question his tactics, how many World titles has he ever won? How many World titles did his biological father win? He says Wayne should be thanking his lucky stars Cage found him should be thanking Cage that he found him and didn’t end up a coward like his father, who died in front of his mother’s face. Wayne is getting angey but Cage pushes him in the chest and says are you quesioning me? Cage says he’ll be AEW World Champion if it’s the last thing he ever does and says for Wayne to shut his mouth shut and keep riding his coattails because the next time we have this conversation, it will be the last time.
Cage walks off, as Kip Sabian was left conflicted and walked off with Cage as Mother Wayne stayed with her son.
-- After AEW Revolution PPV last Sunday: Lexy Nair was outside of MJF’s locker room following his loss to Hangman Adam Page at Revolution on Sunday. As Nair opened the doorto get a few words from him, MJF was telling himself in the mirror that he’s a fraud before smashing the mirror, he turned around and screamed at Nair to get out and chased her out of the room.
-- In Ring: MJF's music hits and he makes his way to the ring. He says cut my music. He says he has a splitting headache, his hand hurts, his body hurts but what hurts the most is that he knows it, everyone else knows it .. he had that match won on Sunday. He says Hangman Adam Page got a cheap shot on him like he did back in 2019 and get a fluke victory. Hesays congrats Hangman. He says the fans can chant your name all they want cowboy because MJF is not upset because MJF is ten times smarter than Page and his fans. He says, heed these words, this thing between me and you, it ain't over boy .. not by a long shot.
MVP's music hits and out he comes alone. He did send Bobby Lashley and Shelton benjamin away on holiday I guess. lol After a face to face saying each other's initials, they hug. Then they act like old friends. MVP says he is proud of MJF and tells us a story of how he met a 18 year old MJF who offered to drive him to some documentary and the price was to sit next to MVP and ask him questions. The questions MJF asked was what impressed MVP the most. Cut to an Indie company in Florida, they met again. MJF did everything he said he was going to do back then and that’s what makes MVP proud of him. MVP says what makes him not proud is how MJF has handled the loss on Sunday, the way he is out here whining to the people. MVP questions why MJF isn’t smashing things and hurting people? MVP knows the answer to the question, MJF has lost his edge, as the boys in the back don’t respect or fear him anymore. MVP pulls out his card and says where The Hurt Syndicate goes, championships goes as well. MVP says the card is a golden ticket to change your career. MVP offers his card to MJF but MJF turns it down.
MJF says with all due respect and it is a very short list of people he does respect but you are one of them ... however, I'm not the same kid I was those years ago and with all due respect, I don't need your help or your aadvice. I'm MJF and I was Champion for 406 consecutive days.
MVP says focus on the word was. MVP offered his card again and MJF took it.
-- MATCH: Konosuke Takeshita defeated Max Caster.
-- Video: Footage of Chris Jericho & The Learning Tree attacking Gravity & Bandido with a baseball bat before his ROH Championship match could take place. Jericho unmasked Gravity, leaving the family of Gravity & Bandido to tend to them.
-- Backstage: Chris Jericho is holding Gravity’s mask and said gravity is the perfect word to introduce he & Bandido to their situation. Jericho embarrassed Bandido in front of his family, scaring his sister and making his mother cry. Jericho asks how one could come back from that. Maybe Bandido brought it on himself or maybe he’s just unlucky. He crumbled up the mask and threw it aside.
-- MATCH: Willow Nightingale defeated Penelope Ford.
- After the match: Ford attacked Nightingale and then Kris Statlander ran down to the ring. Statlander took out Ford and helped Nightingale up, who didn’t realize who it was, initially shoving Statlander away. The two ladies stared at each other until Megan Bayne came to the ring attacking them both and standing tall in the end.
-- Backstage: Renee Paquette is interviewing Mercedes Moné, who is selling her bruised throat, so she can’t do her signature line, so Paquette did it. Paquette said Moné requested Billie Starkz to join them. Starkz walks in and says her notes she was taking at Revolution was not to get kicked in the throat. Starkz said she’s accomplished a lot here too, she was the first inaugural ROH TV Champion at 19. They aren’t that different since wrestling is their lives. Starkz says that Moné says money changes everything and next week, she’s looking to become a champion. Moné coughed and said Starkz is way out of her league. She shoved Starkz in the face and said next week there’s a price to pay when you mess with Mercedes Moné.
-- In RIng: Commentator Tony Schiavone welcomes Will Ospreay to the ring, as he’s moving really gingerly and talked about the stitches in his head, might have gotten stabbed in the ribs, but he’s still standing. Ospreay said he was scared for his life at Revolution, but to thanks everyone for their support, it carried him through. One day, Kyle Fletcher will be World Champion and if they stand in the ring again, he’ll be the better man once more.
Schiavone asks what is next for Ospreay? In order to be the guy in AEW, there should be something around his waist, but there’s an issue, Cope has a title match next week, Strickland has a title shot at Dynasty, so when should he call his shot? When it matters the most, as he looked up at the All In Texas sign and said he’s on a mission, to be in the main event for the AEW World Title at All In and how he can do it, is by entering the Owen Hart Tournament.
-- Backstage: Renee Paquette interviews Switchblade Jay White, who mocks the Ospreay chant saying Willy really is on another level and sometime soon, they’ll see each other in the ring again. White congratulates Ospreay on his win at Revolution, but if he wants a World Championship match at All In, they’re going to have to keep protecting him from White. Paquette asks what happened at Revolution and White said everyone wants to know if he hit Cope with the briefcase on purpose and asks Paquette what she thinks and then the crowd. White says he did not hit Cope on purpose. He’ll be dammed if he’ll let anyone stop him from fulfilling his destiny becoming AEW World Champion.
-- Backstage: Renee Paquette approached Hangman Adam Page and was attempting to ask him about Revolution when they walk past MJF and Page asks MJF if he wants to finish breaking his neck? Page said last week, MJF tried to set him on fire, but when he does something like that, he really has to mean it. However, Sunday, MJF let the mask slip, Page realizes MJF cares what the fans think of him.
MJF says he’s glad Page thinks he wasn’t going to set him on fire, so he’ll call Page’s bluff, as Page doesn’t realize what is next. Page had a fluke victory, but MJF goes on to become a multiple time World Champion, first ballot Hall of Famer and greatest of all time, while Page fails to reach the pinnacle, only to tumble all the way down, wallowing in his own self-pity.
Page said they’ll see, won’t they? MJF walks away.
