One of the most famous groups in TNA Wrestling history is getting back together during WWE SummerSlam weekend. The legendary Main Event Mafia will reunite for a special appearance at WrestleCon’s Destination Minneapolis event.
It will be a rare chance for fans to see some of the faction’s biggest names together again. Especially since it has been almost 20 years since they first took over TNA.
WrestleCon announced that Scott Steiner, Booker T, Sting, Kurt Angle, and Kevin Nash will all take part in the first-ever official Main Event Mafia group photo.
The reunion will happen on Friday, July 31, at the Hilton Minneapolis, where WrestleCon will run from July 31 to August 2 during SummerSlam weekend. To announce the reunion, WrestleCon released artwork showing all five legends in suits with the Minneapolis skyline behind them, giving a nod to the group’s famous mafia-style look.
Fans will only have one chance to get the group photo because it’s scheduled for Friday only. The photo with all five legends will cost $280.
Although the Main Event Mafia has been mentioned and even brought back in different forms over the years, this is the first time these five stars have been advertised together for an official group photo.
The Main Event Mafia first appeared on the October 23, 2008, episode of TNA Impact! The group was led by Kurt Angle and included Sting, Kevin Nash, Booker T, and later Scott Steiner. Sharmell also appeared with Booker T during the faction’s run.
The group believed veteran wrestlers deserved more respect than TNA’s younger stars. That led to a rivalry with The Front Line, a group made up of rising names like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe.
The storyline focused on experienced stars going up against the next generation. At their peak, the Main Event Mafia held almost every major championship in TNA.
