The Hardys to Defend TNA Tag Team Titles Against The Nemeths at Lockdown

TNA Wrestling has added another big match to the Lockdown 2026 card. The Hardys (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy) will defend the TNA World Tag Team title against The Nemeth Brothers (Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth) inside a steel cage.

The rivalry between the two brother teams has been heating up ever since The Hardys won the TNA World Tag Team Titles at Slammiversary. They captured the championships in a four-way ladder match that also included Nic and Ryan Nemeth.

Both teams believe they are the best brother tag team in wrestling, and things got even more personal on this week’s iMPACT.

The match was made official during the July 30 episode of TNA iMPACT! after TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella announced it. Lockdown takes place on August 23, 2026, at the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois. As always, every match at Lockdown will happen inside a steel cage.

During this week’s iMPACT, Matt Hardy started the segment by discussing The Hardys’ recent win over The Righteous. He also mentioned their trip through the Lake of Reincarnation, saying it reminded them why they are the greatest tag team of all time.

Matt even claimed that TNA’s move to AMC happened because of The Hardys and said famous TLC matches would never have existed without them. Jeff Hardy backed up his brother’s words, saying they were ready to keep winning as the TNA World Tag Team Champions.

But soon after, TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth interrupted the promo with his brother Ryan Nemeth.

Nic disagreed with Matt’s comments and said he is the real greatest of all time. Ryan also praised The Nemeth Brothers, calling them the best brother tag team in wrestling. Nic then made it clear that he wants to leave Lockdown with both the TNA World Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship.

Before things got out of hand, Santino Marella came to the ring and officially announced the steel cage title match for Lockdown.

He also booked two singles matches to build up the rivalry. Next week on iMPACT, Matt Hardy will face Ryan Nemeth. Two weeks later, Jeff Hardy will challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship.
