TNA Wrestling’s reported interest in recruiting WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg may have hit a roadblock.

For the past few weeks, speculation had gained momentum that Dogg could soon join TNA’s creative team. His backstage appearance at Slammiversary only added to those rumors. However, a new backstage update suggests that talks between the two sides have slowed down considerably.

The discussions reportedly have not ended, but they are no longer moving toward an agreement as quickly as many expected.

According to Dave Meltzer in the recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, negotiations between TNA and Road Dogg have stalled. Meltzer reported that the two sides have not reached a deal and currently don’t appear to be close to one.

“Talks with Brian James to come here have stalled. He didn’t make a deal and right now they don’t seem to be close to a deal,” he stated.

This is a significant change from the recent updates surrounding Dogg.

Rumors about him joining TNA picked up after he was seen backstage at Slammiversary. His appearance at the PPV led many fans to believe that he was close to taking on an official role with the company.

Dogg did not appear at TNA’s TV tapings in Albany afterward. At the time, it was believed that the delay was because the two sides were still working through the details of a potential agreement.

PWInsider previously reported that TNA and Road Dogg were still in talks after his appearance at Slammiversary. The report also confirmed that the talks were still active even though Dogg did not appear at the television tapings.

That update made it seem like a deal was still likely. However, Meltzer’s latest report now paints a different picture, with negotiations reportedly losing momentum.
