Michael Schumacher without a doubt is one of the most successul Formula One drivers ever. Ever since he moved to Ferarri from Benneton (now Renault) in 1996 he's had the most success with Ferarri then he ever did with Benneton, and he's surely going to be going to be known as one of the best F1 drivers ever.

So he's now 37 years old, and he's won 7 World Titles alltogether in his career (4 with Ferarri and 3 with Benneton) and he's also managed to beat Alain Prost's record for most Grand Prix wins in a Season (I think)... but he's had a great career and last season Ferarri sucked as a team, and the 2005 season was dominated by McLaren and also Renault. Schumacher didn't win the F1 World Title last season, that person was Fernando Alonso who became the youngest F1 World Champion ever.

And it was announced last month that Fernando Alonson would indeed be driving for McLaren Mercades from 2007 onwards, seeing as his contract with Renault will be up, and McLaren have apparently signed Alonso because of the fact that Kimi Raikonnen has been linked with a move to Ferarri, and if he does move to Ferarri then Juan Pablo Montoya and Fernando Alonso as team-mates will be a very interesting combination to say the least.

So with that being said, will Michael Schumacher retire at the end of the forthcoming Formula One season?

I think he will do, 7 World Championship's is quite an achievement, and Schumacher will no doubt go down in F1 History as one of the greatest Forumla One drivers and with him being aged at 37, his time is almost up. If Ferarri can somehow manage to do an excellent job this season with their car than they did last season, then perhaps Schumacher will end the season on a high by recording his 8th Formula One World Title, but I think this up and coming season will be dominated by Renault and McLaren once again, and at the end will see a great Driver like Michael Schumacher retire from Formula One.

Thoughts?
