I think Cena could do fine in non-title fueds.

i think it might actually help him in the long run. cause then he could actually build his character towards a different role and expand on it other then "the champ is here"

If he tried to branch out as a character this guy could become great, he does have some potential but that was halted by the early title reigns. He stuck himself in a rut. I mean, why change if it got you the title? If he was pulled back for a while, he would have to tweak peices of his character and style.

But if he refuses to change, he will fade. It was a huge probelm with Brock Lesnar and Goldberg, They never adapted to anything. They were the same all the time and it grew stale quickly. The same was really happening to HBK recently, he was a little lazy and stuck in the "face" rut. It has only been a 7 or so weeks since he took on some attitude and he has reached the pinnacle of the business once again. Hell, even Austin changed from a complete badass anti-hero to a more comedic badass anti-hero. Not a big change, but enough to keep the character fresh.

it might help his career but how many champions have walked away from the title that didn't have the fans support or hate and made a name for himself. let's take a look hogan-face hhh- face, heel hbk- face austin face y2j-heel lesnar- niether(lost) goldburg- neither(lost) rock- face heel. my point is cena is a champ in the middle som elove him some hate him with the scale about even and like orton without the title he may just fall into the mid card and stay.
